SOUTH FOOD COURT — 80 PERSON LUNCH TENT — RESTROOMS

JJ's (Greek Gyros, Italian Sausage, Philly Cheese Steak)
Purple Tree Organic Acai Blends
Wild West Soda
il Caffe Coffe
TBD

OUR AD CAMPAIGN:

In 2018 we will quadruple our ad campaign (versus 2017) to include 13 Interstate I-10 billboards in a ten-minute stretch between Valencia Road to the south and Miracle Mile to the north. There will be a further 80 billboards, lighted bus shelters, and benches on the local roads that our customers travel (e.g. Congress, St. Marys, Granada, Main Street, Oracle, Ajo and Speedway). In total there will be nearly 100 faces of outdoor advertising. This is part of our strategy to increase the 44,000 attendance in 2017 to 55,000 in 2018 — making it not only the #1 most-attended show in the world, but also becoming the one "must attend" show in Tucson where the best dealers will congregate.

Here's how all that plays out in pure numbers...

Tent size:
2016 = 590' x 100' (= 327 standard 10' x 18' hotel rooms)
2017 = 738' x 100' (= 410 hotel rooms)
2018 = 755' x 100' + Fine Mineral & Gem Annex (= 576 hotel rooms)

Booths:
2016 = 165 (each from 100 sq. feet to 4,500 sq. feet)
2017 = 210
2018 = 276

Attendance:
2016 = 41,000
2017 = 44,000 (despite a significantly lower Tucson-wide attendance)
2018 = 55,000 projected

Ad Campaign:
2016 = $8,500 (2 billboards on I-10 and 14 other locations)
2017 = $32,000 (4 billboards on I-10 and 50 other locations)
2018 = $150,000 (13 billboards on I-10 and 80 other locations plus our fold-out floorplan & dealer list
...........................on Page 1 of both the Tucson Show Guide and the Tucson EZ-Guide)
2019 = same as the 2018 campaign + our new permanent 70' tall sign on the show site (360 sq. feet on both sides) towering above I-10.
(if you are curious, you can view the engineering plans for the 70-foot sign)

FREE 19 DAY HOTEL STAY:

Country Inn & Suites
6681 S Tucson Blvd (next to the airport)
Tucson, AZ 85756

We stay at this hotel every year for free and so can you. Our five rooms, totaling over 100 nights would otherwise cost $19,000. The usual cost at this upscale property is $190 / night including tax. The drive-time is 14 minutes to the 22nd Street Show, and 12 minutes going back. Plus, they include a free hot breakfast, a free airport shuttle, and an Enterprise Rent-a-Car on-site.

Here's how you too can stay 19 nights for free, when the cost would otherwise be over $3,600. For every $1 that you charge using the hotel's branded Visa card you get 5 points. A free night at this hotel requires 9,000 points. So you get one free night for every $1,800 that you charge on the card. Plus, when you apply you will receive 85,000 points after you charge $2,500. That 85,000 points divided by 9,000 points = 9.44 free nights just for joining and spending $2,500. That’s half of your 19-night Tucson hotel stay — to do the 18-day 22nd Street Show. Spend another $16,408 and you have enough points (171,000 total) for all 19 nights. Their Visa card costs $60 a year and is the best bargain in Tucson.

Then each year, you get another free 40,000 points (4.44 nights) plus a bonus free night when they assess the $60 annual fee. So for each subsequent year you need to spend $24,400 to get 19 free nights worth over $3,600. That same spending with an airline credit card just barely gets you enough frequent flier miles for a roundtrip worth $400.

We receive no rewards, kick-backs, commissions, or discounts of any kind if you apply. Rather, we want to make it easier for existing “hotel room dealers” to transition to the 22nd Street Show. When you have free lodging (especially when in a finer hotel) then it’s an easier decision to make the switch! Actually, with this approach the daily cost to exhibit at the 22nd Street Show is lower than at a hotel show. The main difference is that you'll enjoy 4x - 40x more visitors than a hotel show. The exact amount depends on the quality of your existing room location.

Here is the link to apply: Club Carlson Visa.

By the way, you can use your points at the Country Inn & Suites on I-10 next to the Ramada Limited, but that location requires 28,000 points for each free night. That’s three times more than the Country Inn & Suites located next to the airport — just to save 7 minutes drive-time each way.

BANNERS ON YOUR WEB SITE:

Savvy dealers advertise their participation in the 22nd Street Show via a banner on their website homepage. It takes just seconds to update your web page, and it will make your participation in the show a bigger success.

Why are banners so important? Because search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing rank their search results based on how many links there are to a website. Banners are clickable links and each one is counted by Google when it calculates the order in which to present the search results. Therefore, the more banners that our dealers put on their websites, the higher the ranking of the 22nd Street Show page, which translates directly into more customers to the show, and ultimately more sales for you.

Below are two banner sizes, but if you want a different size / shape then please email Lowell via the 'Contact Us' tab and he'll make it for you.

If you like this first banner, then copy and paste this html into your webpage(s):

ELECTRICITY:

1,000 watts of electricity is included in the booth fee. Additional electricity is NOT available. Halogen lights are now banned from our show so you'll need to upgrade to efficient LEDs, compact fluorescents, or other low-wattage lighting system to remain under the 1,000 watt threshold. In addition, anything that produces heat such as coffee makers, rice cookers, hot pots, space heaters, etc. all draw more than 1,000 watts. Leave these at home. Vendors caught with such items will not be welcomed back to the show.

INTERNET:

We cannot provide internet or Wi-Fi. Instead, use your smart phone's HotSpot capability or buy a dedicated HotSpot.

HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING:

Heat is provided by diesel-fired heaters. Cooling is provided by 50-ton HVAC units.

SET-UP DAYS & TIMES:

Tuesday and Wednesday, January 23 and 24, 2018 between 8 AM and 8 PM. All three weekends of the show are very busy, so plan accordingly.

SECURITY:

Around-the-clock 24 hour security begins at 10 am on Tuesday, Jan 23, 2017 for set-up. Once the show begins there will be five uniformed armed security officers during show hours and three during non-show hours. Further, overnight security is augmented with a K-9 team and an idling security patrol car with flashing lights to make us the very last place that the bad guys will likely visit. In addition, we will have 6' chain-link fence around the perimeter and exterior lights at strategic locations.

New for 2018 Our security team will present a training demonstration on Wednesday, Jan 24 at 5pm to show you how to respond to an active shooter scenario. Further, there will be a break-out session with just those dealers who are concealed carriers. In the initial chaos of an armed robbery or terror action, it is important that the "good guys" act predictably and correctly to avoid friendly fire accidents.

The structure has tough fiberglass wall panels and a heavy TL-30 safe is available for rent for $100 (insurance not included). Despite these precautions, losses are inevitable, especially due to shoplifting. We highly recommend that you buy and use an affordable motion-activated camera that streams live video to your smartphone. As an exhibitor you accept all risk of loss, damage, and theft whatever the cause and agree to hold the promoter, its employees, contractors, and suppliers, as well as the City of Tucson blameless in the event of loss of any kind. It is your responsibility to obtain insurance and provide adequate protection (such as showcases and safes) for your own merchandise.

LIGHTING, SHOWCASES, CHAIRS, RISERS, PIPE & DRAPE, AND MORE:

In our business, presentation is everything!! Make sure that your booth is well lit so that it stands out and attracts customers. Convenient LED table display lighting can do that for you with a rental price of only $95 per light for the 18-day show. All you need is one 7200 lumen light pole per table. Note that since high wattage Halogen lights use too much electricity, they are banned from our show. Reserve your elegant LED light poles now and they will be installed at your table when you arrive. Click for more info from Show Off Lighting

Daniel Rieke of 'Dynamic Events of Denver' rents showcases at very competitive prices. The Dynamic Price List includes free delivery.

For high-end showcases we recommend Tucson Store Fixtures.

Chairs are not included with your booth due to the large number of thefts and damages. But you can rent them for $2.20 each from A La Carte Rentals, which will be on-site during set-up and tear-down. That is super convenient for you! They also rent pipe & drape to make your booth more elegant, as well as other items such as stanchions, extension cords, and more. Here is their brochure / order form: A La Carte Rentals. Contact them immediately to ensure they reserve the items that you will need.

Finally, table risers are a super-smart way to increase your display space at a very modest purchase price. You can't even rent them in town but you can buy them on-line. The riser shown below is 1' wide x 8' long x 1' high which will increase a table's area from 20 sq. feet to 28 sq. feet, an increase of 40%. The purchase price in Jan 2017 was $57.43, including free shipping. Buy them on Amazon.com at Table Riser

COMMERCIAL SCALES:

If you are selling your merchandise by weight, please be aware that your scale(s) must be NTEP approved and registered with the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures. They will make unannounced visits at the show and all scales that are not licensed by the AZDWM and/or not NTEP approved are subject to confiscation. If you would like further information or to request a Device License Package, please contact:

SALES TAX & BUSINESS LICENSE:

Tucson's 2% and Arizona's 6.1% sales taxes total 8.1% and must be collected on all RETAIL transactions which is defined as anyone purchasing without a business license. After the show ends, you must report your wholesale AND retail sales and pay sales taxes SEPARATELY to Tucson (City taxes) and Arizona (State taxes). Be aware that show organizers are required by law to supply their dealer names and address to the taxing authorities.

For ARIZONA taxes, go to www.aztaxes.gov after the show and then select 'Enroll to File and Pay Online' to register and file your Arizona sales tax return. Note that instead of "sales tax" Arizona calls it a "Transaction Privilege Tax" or TPT, so don't let that confuse you.

All exhibitors/dealers (wholesale and retail) are required to obtain a TUCSON Business License for each and every location where they sell. A Tucson Tax official will visit you at the show to issue the license for $28, which has been the same price since 1996. They will give you a form explaining how to file TUCSON sales taxes.

There is an additional fee of $20 per dealer, regardless of the number of your selling locations. This fee requires a 1-page form to be submitted. Click to download the Dealer Trade Show Licensing Form and have it ready for when the taxing officials come around to collect both the $28 fee and the $20 fee.

Wholesale buyers with a business license are exempt from sale tax, but it is the responsibility of you the seller to record the business license information should you be audited. If you do not provide the information during an audit, then you will be liable for the 8.1% tax. So keep good records!

SHIPPING TO THE USA:

There is no import tax or duty charged on minerals and fossils shipped to the to the USA. Be sure to use Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code number "9705.00.0091". This code corresponds to “Collections and Collectors’ Pieces of Mineralogical or Paleontological Interest”. No taxes are due upon importation of minerals, fossils, gems, jewelry and similar items into the USA. Further, there are no duties on minerals and fossils shipped into the USA. Be sure to have a detailed inventory list and use Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code number 9705.00.0091. This code corresponds to "Collections and Collectors' Pieces of Mineralogical or Paleontological Interest".

Most gems, jewelry, semi-precious / precious stones, and precious metals are also exempt from import duties. However there are many exceptions in which the duty is 10% or more. To learn which specific items are subject to duty, please visit the official United States International Trade Commission website and use the Search function.

If only a few items are subject to duty and the amount is low, it is usually fastest / cheapest to pay the duty. However, in cases where the duty would be high, then the exhibitor can acquire an ATA Carnet at a cost of about $300 (+ surety bond at a cost of 1% of the merchandise value). The ATA Carnet is an international customs document that allows the holder to temporarily (up to one year) import goods without payment of normally applicable duties and taxes, including value-added taxes in more than 71 countries. The ATA Carnet eliminates the need to purchase temporary import bonds. So long as the goods are re-exported within the allotted time frame, no duties or taxes are due. Failure to re-export all goods listed on the ATA Carnet results in the need to pay the applicable duties (as would be the case for items that are sold). The acronym ATA is a combination of French and English phrases "Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission.

To learn about and obtain an ATA Carnet please visit the International Chamber of Commerce website.

VISA REQUIREMENTS:

To start the process, go to USembassy.gov and select your country from the list — which is arranged by continent. The job of the embassy official is to ensure that you are a legitimate seller with an established business. Therefore tax records, a website, catalogs or brochures, bank statements, and other evidence of your business would help them to be sure that you are indeed a genuine business person.
